Brief description of project and relevance to the contract:
(100% A&E design services)
Project covers the improvement and extension of Water Distribution System and Sewage Collection System at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. Both systems are designed to serve a total population of 30,000 with an average water usage of 170 lt per person per day.
Water Distribution System is planned to fulfill the requirements of the following zones:
– Central Region including Center Area, Main Gate Area and Ramps Area
– South Park, Deep South
– North Side of the Runway
Sewage Collection System is planned to improve the sewage collection needs of the following zones:
– Central Area and Main Gate Area
– Ramps Area, South Park
– Deep South 1 and Deep South 2
Project scope also covers an Aquifer Study which evaluates the availability of water in the Shallow Aquifer (0-30 m), Upper Aquifer (30 m – 70 m) and the City Aquifer (70 m – 150 m) identified at the region.
