Brief description of project and relevance to the contract :
(100% A&E design services)
The Package M11 provides the necessary construction improvements for the U.S Air Force to support counterinsurgency in Southern and Western Afghanistan. The work consists of two (2) projects located at Forward Operation Base (FOB) Shindand. These projects include the Strategic Airlift Apron and Passenger & Cargo Terminal. The scope of work for each of these projects is as below.
Strategic Airlift Apron – The scope of work includes design of a medium-load Portland cement concrete aircraft apron for C-17 aircraft. The circulation aircraft design for the Strategic Airlift is an AN-124 fixed-wing aircraft with connecting taxiways and shoulders for this strategic airlift aircraft. Work includes pavement markings, grounding points, utilities, power and electrical connections.
Passenger & Cargo Terminal – The scope of work includes design of cargo handling area with a passenger processing facility and cargo warehouse for both inbound and outbound passenger and cargo processing. Work includes pavements and supporting infrastructure.
